How do you all know what Harvey's is?

I thought Harvey's was a bit like Bailey's.

Apologies for the delay in this latest set of photo's; I tried to load them a couple of weeks' ago but something wouldn't work. Today, for reasons beyond my comprehension, it does work.

The sewage treatment plant has been installed. According to the manufacturer's literature, the quality of the treated water is good enough to drink so if you're ever offered a bottle of Sleddale Hall mineral water...

Inside the treatment chamber - rotating discs support bacteria which breaks 'matter' down. The inlet pipe is just visible at about four o' clock and the outlet at eleven o' clock. The outlet pipe discharges in to a land drain.

The head and jambs of the doorcase have arrived from the quarry and are currently awaiting installation.

Looking up the staircase on a bright sunny day. Hopefully I'll finish the decorations here during my next visit.

Tiling underway in the ground floor shower room. The tiles are a riven green slate which I thought would be an appropriate match for the local Westmorland slate. The tiles are laid on a cementitious tile-backer board which is impervious to water ingress.

Decorations in progress in bedroom 3. The ceiling's finished and patch repairs + polyfilling old plaster on the internal partition are just about complete. Decorations in bedroom 4 (visible through the door) are almost complete - a fire surround is on order and I have a grate for the fireplace which can also be seen through the door.

The first floor corridor; again, decorations well underway with joinery limed and waxed. Completion of painting to the last areas of polyfilled walls will take place next trip.

The bathroom decorations are also just about finished. Two top hung panels will be manufactured, as bath panelling, and will give access to a cupboard for storing odds and ends.

To finish this post, a Summer view from bedroom 4.

The sash windows are being glazed and decorated in the joiners' workshop and I hope they will be fitted very soon in which case I'll be posting some views from other bedrooms; can't wait!

I'm pleased to say that the builders are back on site and last week they began fitting the new windows:

Here's a reminder of how the courtyard elevation used to look:

And close up; second sitting room window to follow.... :

The view from the bathroom window:

Mist coat (Pugin Red as per an earlier posting) underway in the sitting room:

Vivid isn't it!

To finish this posting, a couple of shots of the house on a damp and misty Summer's day:

Nice to see three chimney stacks adding some interest to the roof.

I mentioned in a previous post that there was the possibility of "Withnail & I" being screened in the courtyard of Sleddale Hall.

Subject to demand, Eden Arts will be showing the film on Saturday the 15th September; there is the possibility of a second screening a week later if the 15th is over-subscribed.

Tickets aren't yet on sale but you will need to register in order to be able to buy them. Anyone interested should follow this link:

http://picniccinema.co.uk/picniccinema/ ... ithnail-i/

and then go to the SUBSCRIBE button.

The ticket price includes live music, bbq and a site to pitch a tent. A portaloo is also to be provided by the organisers. There will be a bar (not free!) - whether it will sell the finest wines available to humanity I couldn't say; perhaps iced cider is more likely...

The ticket does not include access to the house but I shall be in residence so if any of you do attend the film show and would like to see inside please contact me to arrange this. I will not be giving access to anyone who has not made contact since I wish to know who is visiting.

Cheers for the heads up Tim, lets hope ticketmaster don`t snap them all up at 09.01.01sec am on release day and sell them on at an inflated price, it should be a delightful weekend in the country for those lucky enough to get tickets.

The picnic cinema list has a few great films in obscure locations, though the location of "Some like it hot" should be changed to Death valley, "Close encounters of the third kind" to a back street in Hull and "Mamma mia" somewhere really far away like the Moon.

Personally I would like to see "Dead mans shoes" though not sure where yet!

Hello Ooomska,

Dead Man's Shoes (excellent film - good choice!) should be shown at Riber Castle but Lowther Castle is a similar ruin and within range of Eden Arts. Maybe next year although I suspect H&S might have something to say?

Had a look at that Riber castle a while ago on the urban exploration forum and looks like a really messed up place, apparently there were rumours in the town that they were doing animal experiments behind the nice facade of a childrens zoo :?:

Not a huge amount of progress at the house to report but here are some exterior photo's showing the new windows.

Hopefully the doorcase will be installed by the time the film is screened on the 15th and the rubble in the courtyard must be gone by then!

The outbuildings with the decorations to the new doors and rainwater goods completed:

Lastly, the promised Pugin Red in the sitting room. I shall strip the paint from the cupboard doors. Plastering the courtyard wall to follow and then second fix electrics - sockets and 5A outlets - will complete the room.

so those windows are NOT the ones that faces look in at? because you'll be living there?

I love the colors of the windows btw.
