I just watched Inglourious Basterds and thought it was boring and way too long. However I will recommend The Hurt Locker.

Fish Tank, life on a London council estate, also 44 inch chest both quite disturbing but worth watching.

If you're not adverse to:

1) Foreign/Subtitles and B) Black & White, I can wholeheartedly recommend the following short & snappy little thriller:

It's a Georgian/French movie which has just been subjected to a Hollywood remake, so watch it quick so you can genuinely say:
"Hmm, well I much preferred the original..."
